Attention Podcasters: Set Up A Survey and Start Monetizing Your Podcast!
June 18th, 2008Podcasting is on the move! The numbers show that audiences are growing and people are subscribing. Arbitron-Edison Media Research reported a 40% growth in podcasting audiences in 2007 alone, and companies such as eMarketer predict a 265% audience growth by 2012. It has become the go-to medium for niche and loyal audiences.
Podcasts have become prime real estate for advertising. Wizzard can assist you in making sure your podcast can capitalize on this upward trend.
What is the best way to get started? Ask your audience to take your show’s survey.
If your podcast is with Wizzard Media, you already have a survey set up for your show. All you have to do is create a button that lets your audience members know that it exists.
Setting it up and creating a button for your listeners is super easy:
1. Go to the Survey Button Page on Wizzard.tv
2. Enter your account ID
3. Choose your button color/type
4. Copy and paste the generated code onto your podcast website, blog, and your social websites
5. Be sure to encourage your listeners to participate in the survey
Once you set up your Wizzard survey it will automatically store responses, and start gathering accurate and marketable data. As mentioned, podcasts have the unique quality of pulling loyal audiences on a variety of topics, depending, and have a sophisticated niche. This niche becomes a defining attribute of your show, and provides you with powerful information for marketers as well as for your own use when producing your show.
Factors to keep in mind with survey results:
1. For survey results, email our Podcast Relations team member, Elsie_@_wizzard.tv.
2. Make sure to wait two weeks before requesting your survey results, so we can gather enough demographic information. Then you can request accordingly in the months to come.
3. The more respondents, the better the information.
4. If you are on-network, our advertising team uses these responses to better promote your show to potential advertisers.

Podcasting Shows “Real and Significant Growth”, Considered “Mainstream Media”
May 6th, 2008Media communications powerhouse Universal McCann has released a new study on the power of social media. The report names podcasting as a key role in universal media consumption, with almost half of the world (49%) having consumed a podcast. The study explores media in three different “waves” over a period of 18 months.
The study states that companies should “use social media to create a dialogue with consumers.” It further states that “the role for advertising will move away from the interruptive model towards less interruptive formats such as pre rolls, sponsorship and branded content which help consumers access new content, ” and that “social media has strong impacts over brand’s reputation.”
